Apple Releases iOS 4.3 Early, Jailbreak Imminent

While the iPad 2 isn’t coming until March 11th, it looks like Apple decided to jump the gun and get iOS 4.3 out to the public. It became available yesterday so you can go update your device right now. The update includes enhancements to the AirPlay feature, Safari browser, and iPad side switch. New features include iTunes Home Sharing and Personal Hotspot for iPhone 4. This update only applies to the GSM iPhone 4 and 3GS, iPad, and iPod Touch 3rd gen or later.

The most anticipated feature for iPhone 4 GSM is the Personal Hotspot, which many Verizon iPhone customers are already enjoying. iTunes Home Sharing works just like it’s desktop/laptop counterpart. It skips the need for syncing your device with your library, allowing you to stream media to your device over WiFi from your computer.

Performance enhancements to Safari make it twice as fast as iOS 4.2 While enhancements to AirPlay allow you to stream video from your Photos app. An interesting point to note is that this update is not available for your shiny new CDMA iPhone 4 with Verizon and Apple says it’s not coming any time soon.

Of course, with every new release of iOS, there will be a way to jailbreak it. @MuscleNerd of the iphone-dev team tweeted “The 4.3 untether JB could come from many sources.. @i0n1c, the pwn2own contestants, @comex are 3 possible (maybe more?).” The Chronic Dev team is also working on updating their Greenpois0n jailbreak.

Have you update to 4.3 yet?
